RFC: Enchanter Code v0.2

PLEASE NOTE that v0.2 of the Enchanter Code is obsolete. You can find v0.4 here.

Here's what started it all:

Perhaps we need something similar to the Geek Code for enchanters, to indicate their level, AA's, class of equipment, guild type, etc. There are many flavors of "geek-like codes", ranging from subgenres of computer geekdom to sexual fetishes.

Note that much of this (except the categories) was lifted directly from the Geek Code and altered to fit enchanters. I'm trying to make this code such that it provides a way for enchanters on this board to A) give some context to their statements, and 2) express themselves for fun. ;)

I am seeking suggestions for improvement and completeness. I'm sure I'm missing some categories, and that I've made errors. Please help. You can post here or email me at ((obsolete email address)). We could sure use some more examples if any of you masochists feel like cranking some out.

Some things:
Gonna sort the categories such that the more important ones come first, according to Goal A) above.
Gonna keep the categories related to the character, and the person behind the toon only as they relate to the toon.
Gonna stay stingy with the version numbers.

Unless stated otherwise within the specific category, the ? is placed after the category identifier and indicates that the enchanter has no specific knowledge about that specific category.

Placed BEFORE the category. Unless stated otherwise, indicates that the person does not participate in this category. This is unlike the ? variable as the ? indicates lack of knowledge, while the ! indicates lack of participation.

b+++ :Willing to run from GFay to Qeynos to buff a lvl2 noob anytime (think pre PoP/Luclin travelling here).

CHARMING (non-Dire Charm of course...sort of a mix of how often and how well you do it)
!c That's crazy stuff, kid stuff...I've never charmed before, and I'm not about to start now.
c--- To me, "charming" is code for "wiping my group real quick".
c-- When I charm, the only death I cause is my own...but it's like clockwork.
c- I'm addicted to charming and keep doing it, even though it's not paying off for me.
c+ As long as a get a rez each time I die, charming...well, it beats selling KEI.
c++ My minions serve me well, for fun and profit. The deaths are a small price to pay.
c+++ I go days without dying while charming mobs near my level, and I do it a lot.
c++++ I am perhaps the ultimate charming macheen!

TOLERANCE FOR WRIST PAIN

D+++ :You could best describe it as 'As <your> Turns' ie. would make a nice TV show.

Now that you have your ratings for each of the above categories, it's time to assemble your code for displaying to the world. Take each category you determined and list them all together with one space between each one. If you run out space on one line, continue it on the next. When completed, it will look something like the following:

Reminds me of the spanking paddle my high school gym teacher had (from the days when corporal punishment was more kosher in public school, I suppose). It had holes drilled in it for 2 purposes: 1. reduce air resistance and increase spanking velocity, 2. whistle through the air menacingly, since the anticipated blow is often worse than the surprise blow.

Great code, but you don't have a guild part for guilds currently on high end lucilan. You skip from Veilous to PoP, my guild personally does some PoP raiding but I can't really classify us as a PoP raiding guild yet.

You can use "G->" to indicate this until something better is available.

At this point, I'm not sure if the whole thing should be reworked to not have any descriptors that are suffix-less. "G->" is not very clear, because the arrow is not pointing to anything. If I go and change it all to fix this, there will be mass confusion for a while...

Thought of something that would make it even more geek

How about if you take the HP/Mana/Ft part of it and turn it into a 9-digit hexadecimal number... , Digits 1-4=hp (up to 65535), Digits 5-8=mana (up to 65535), Digit 9 = FT (up to 15).

So the above

2.45khp 5.54km ft 15

would be 099215a4f

My pitiful

2.3khp 4.6km ft10

would be 08fc11f8a

Wish it coulda been a much neater 7-digit code, but then hp/mana report would top out at 4095. But it definately ups the Geek factor

As it stands right now, too many non-geeks can make perfect sense of our HP/Mana/FT stats. I feel our secret uber geek language is in danger of being compromized.

I made this page because I was bored. I tried to make it as close to the guide as possible but some of the descriptions were just too long and made the combo boxes ridiculously wide. It's also a first pass so it doesn't support things like the $, ?, and > modifiers. To make a range, check the "set range" checkbox and a second combobox will appear for the upper bound. The "+/-" checkbox is the @ modifier. When you click the "Generate Code" button, it appears at the bottom of the page and you can copy and paste it into your sig.
